The Only Time Being Two-Faced Is Good
Ah yes the classic yin and yang, all about the importance of balance in one's life. Well, this lucky little kitten was born with the gift of balance, that is, in its fur color. Usually, the colors of yin and yang are black and white, but this cat Narnia is blessed with a beautiful half-black and grey coat. With a perfectly straight line down the middle of its face, this cat is like nothing we've ever seen before. Stunning and unique.
But what makes the source of his yin and yang fur color a mystery? Well, this usually occurs when a genetic condition called Chimera is present. It results in having two sets of DNA which in turn causes different pigmentation. However, when the owner tested Narnia for this condition, it revealed he in fact did not have Chimera. This is why he is truly a scientific wonder!
His Name May Be Zeus But Don't Let His Size Fool You
Zeus is the ancient Greek god, the protector, ruler, and father of all gods. And this little guy here is, you guessed it, also Zeus. Meet this adorable German Shepard dog with dwarfism, with the standard look and characteristics of a german shepherd and the body of a corgi, Zeus is one of a kind. Although his ears clearly didn't get the same genes as the rest of his body, they're as big as his entire body! This just may be the best combination of dog traits we've seen yet.
With the wits of a German Shepard, puppy face, and corgi size, this dog has captured our hearts. All hail mighty and fluffy Zeus!
They Say Eyes Are The Windows to Your Soul
If eyes are the windows to your soul then this cat must have the most beautiful soul ever. Its eyes are the color of fine jewels like emerald or jade, something straight out of a Disney movie. It's almost as if this cat could transform into your fairy godmother with its dazzling eyes that see into your future. To say this cat's eyes are mesmerizing would be a vast understatement.
The genes that cause most cats to have light eyes are usually only found in cats of lighter-colored breeds. Therefore this feline friend is unique with its combination of dark fur and bright eyes.
Two Eyes, Four Eye Colors
This cat has a very rare genetic condition called Heterochromia. This usually causes a cat to have one fully gold eye and one fully blue eye. However, what makes this cat so special is that it has two different colors in each of its eyes! It looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. This cat's pointed ears, stunning multi-colored eyes, and cute features make it one of the most epic and unique pets we've seen.
Seriously, have you ever been jealous of a cat's looks? Well if not, there's a first for everything!
The Only Snake We Wouldn't Run Away From
Snakes seem to be one of the most feared animals on the planet. They are usually seen as scary and bad. And there is no doubt they are highly under-appreciated. But this snake in particular is so beautiful we have to take a moment to appreciate and recognize its beauty. This is a Motley-Golden Child Reticulated Python, one of the three heaviest snakes in the world. These types of snakes with this particular color are pretty rare and are worth a lot of money!
Its rainbow-colored metallic skin is iridescent and just plain gorgeous. Okay so we might still be a little too freaked out to actually stand next to the snake, but it sure is pretty to look at.
Who Knew Eyebrows on a Dog Could Be so Cute
Meet Fanny. She's a Bernese mountain dog with a gene defect! Her rare skin condition is called vitiligo, much like how it affects humans, it can affect animals too! It is painless but does cause the loss of pigment in hair and skin. Therefore Fanny develops patches of white fur all over! Although, we would say this is a pretty cool-looking condition. It appears as if Fanny has eyebrows making her already cute face appear even cuter and more expressive.
Since Fanny was a wee puppy her owner has taken photos of her. They've been able to document how over time she slowly turned from having an all-black fur coat to now mostly white with spots of color!
Beware of Bigfoot... Only This Time It Meows
You may have heard of Bigfoot also known as Sasquatch. It's a monkey-like creature, huge in nature, presumably with big feet. Well, our furry friend here is also known as bigfoot. But this time it's a cat; a cat with you guessed it, really large feet! This little guy got hit with some interesting genes giving him feet disproportionate to his little cat's body. He also has a mutation called polydactyly which is a condition in which you are born with extra fingers or toes.
Did you also do a double take on this one? It looks like he's wearing kitty slippers. We're hoping that this feline grows into his paws but even if he doesn't he has some cool DNA! Now, these are the feet pictures we can get behind.
Even With Four Ears It Still Won't Listen to You
Now, this cat looks straight out of a fantasy book. Meet Midas, the cat who quickly rose to fame with over 330,000 followers! Midas is a perfectly healthy cat who was born with a genetic abnormality resulting in the appearance of four ears. She has absolutely no problem with hearing despite the extra ears! What makes her different from other cats with similar genetic abnormalities, is that all four of the earlaps are connected to the ear canal.
Although that probably won't change how well she listens to her owner, you know cats; they do what they want!
If Purrrfection Were a Kitten
One day someone who fosters cats with their local shelter received a new litter. They quickly discovered that one kitten was half the size of her other littermates. They later found out that this special kitty was in fact born with a genetic mutation called feline dwarfism. These genetics are not common for cats at all! The way in which it presents itself in our furry friends is by characteristics such as short legs and a relatively large head.
Did you know that cats with dwarfism are also known as munchkin cats? Many munchkin cats have even become famous internet icons. We can't forget the Grumpy Cat who became a meme sensation known for her grumpy appearance which was caused by this very same genetic condition!
13/10 Would Boop This Puppy's Nose
This puppy was born with unique genetics that resulted in a fairly large birthmark. Right on its nose is a discoloration in the shape of a paw print- how ironic. Now naturally puppies are so adorable that we can't help but cuddle them, kiss them, and of course, give them a lil boops on their noses. Well, this puppy is special because it comes with a snout with a built-in booper.
It is probably not good etiquette to touch someone's face unannounced. But can we get an exception for this puppy? Because it's seriously the most boop-able nose we've ever seen. Internet boops are ok too.
Racoon Meets Cat
This is just your normal cat. No, it's actually a raccoon in a cat suit. No wait, it has to be half panda bear. Or maybe it's in disguise and is actually a burglar, yeah that's it! It could definitely be a part of a crime-fighting duo that's for sure. It wouldn't even need to worry about needing a mask. What a special cat that must have a secret identity. We wonder what it does at night when the owners are asleep?
Now in all seriousness, the color discoloration in the cat's fur is most likely due to a hereditary condition such as vitiligo. However, it shouldn't create any health problems and should generally be harmless. It does look pretty cool though.
Starry-Eyed Kitty
This is what we imagine being starry-eyed must look like. This fabulous feline's eyes look like cracked glass, which is oddly satisfying. She appears to have a genetic condition called persistent pupillary membranes. What this means is that when this kitty was just an embryo, a sheet of pigmented tissue formed over the iris! Although there is no need to worry. Despite this little cat's magnificent-looking eyes, she can see perfectly fine!
Her eyes look like cracked glass, marbles, or even the midnight sky filled with bright twinkling stars.
Someone Looks Like They Got Into Painting
When she was born she was a fully black cat. As the years have gone by, she started to develop these small white spots all over her fur! Her owner took her to the vet and found out she has a rare skin condition. This special kitty has the genetic condition Vitiligo! She is expected to be a fully white cat by the time she is an old cat. Although she looks like the midnight sky, it won't be that way forever.
This cat looks like someone flicked white paint all over her! What a star-speckled angel.
Look at This One-Eyed Four-Eared Wonder
Meet Frankenkitten the four-eared, one-eyed cat from Victoria, Australia. This little kitten was placed with a foster family while she was in a rough condition and just a baby. It was their most unusual foster yet. She didn't have a name or a family and had a difficult time finding a forever home. Along with her unique differences, she also had an abnormal eye that required surgical removal. But luckily for Frankie, her new owners immediately found love for her and got straight to work.
Now Frankie is thriving. A full-grown cat with a loving family. Her eyes are healed and her four ears are merely a genetic difference that doesn't affect her life. Way to go Frankie!
Humans Please Watch Where You Step
This is Dexter. A black kitty that looks pretty cute at first glance. But Dexter actually has an abnormally long tail. He may look like a full-grown cat in this picture but he is in fact a kitten here with a tail that doubles the length of his body! You may think he has monkey-like abilities, jumping and hanging from trees but as far as his owners are concerned he is just a normal cat.
Although this tail doesn't affect his day-to-day abilities, it does put him at a bit of a risk. Humans definitely need to watch where they are stepping around Dexter. With a tail as long as this cat's tail, it is bound to get stepped on!
Quick, Eyeballs or Marbles
Now here is another cat with the most beautiful eyes ever. This cat has a genetic condition known as Heterochromia. Usually, this presents itself in having two different colored eyes. For example, one fully green eye and one fully blue. However what makes this cat so unique is that not only does he have two different colored eyes, there are two different colors in each! Orange-yellow and blue in each eye, this cat looks like he is a part of a fantasy movie.
This condition is quite rare in cats. And with the stark contrast of his all-white fur along with his eyes that look like fire and ice; this is one special cat.
No This Is Not a Statue, It Is a Real Bunny
This beautiful bun has an extremely special look. His genetic condition is called Chimera. This means that when he was just an embryo he absorbed at least two sets of DNA. So this is what causes him to have two distinct coat colors, black and caramel-colored fur. Considering the perfect straight line right down the middle of him, this has to be the most aesthetically pleasing bunny to walk this Earth.
Does he look more like half bread and half-burnt toast? Chocolate and peanut butter? Or maybe a half Easter and Halloween bunny all in one!
Meet Pixel, One Gorgeous Kitten
This is Pixel, a beautiful little kitten. Another case of Heterochromia showcasing itself in gorgeous and mysterious ways. Believe it or not, Heterochromia is actually a very rare genetic anomaly that occurs across the animal kingdom. Along with Pixel's half black and half white fur; she has one bright ocean blue eye and also one beautiful forest green eye. It's hard to decide which side of her face is cuter. This cat seriously won the genetic lottery.
In this context, Heterochromia really means "make everyone fall in love with that face." Seriously though, you just can't look away from this gorgeous baby!
Rowdy Made a New Friend Who Also Has Vitiligo
This is Rowdy and Marcus. They have become the best of buds. White-eyed Rowdy is the gorgeous black dog and Marcus is his new human friend. They bonded over their shared genetic condition, Vitiligo. Vitiligo is a rare skin condition that causes depigmentation, usually in white patches all over the hair and skin. And these guys have matching spots on their faces! Rowdy is actually a spokesdog for vitiligo and helped kids with the condition feel more confident in themselves.
Rowdy's pet parents have made it a mission to take their cool dog and dedicate their time to advocacy. Their goals are to inspire and empower individuals with vitiligo and other external uniqueness or genetic conditions to become more comfortable in their own skin! So sweet.
Marble Print but Make It a Kitty
Is it a ferocious white tiger or is it just a marble print cat? Much to your surprise, it is indeed a cat. In fact, this little kitty is named Eli. Eli is a tuxedo cat with Vitiligo which equals a gift of mother nature! She used to be an all-black cat and with the passage of time has become mostly white. Although Eli's condition causes her fur to look like it's made of marble stone but just fluffy. She could blend right into a kitchen.
Eli could be inducted into a museum of fine art. The most stunning marble stone kitty the world has seen!
We Must Protect Him at All Costs
Now, this doggo may look like a little puppy but in fact, he is full-grown. This is an adult German Shepard that is diagnosed with dwarfism and it's the cutest thing ever. Although he is miniature sized he still has the huge, iconic, and fluffy German Shepherd ears! Dwarfism mainly affects the bones, so those ears are his for his life! And doesn't that facial expression just tug your heart? Makes you just want to hug him and tell him everything's going to be alright!
German Shepards are known for being incredibly smart and protective dogs. They tend to be used as guard dogs and police dogs. Although this little guy looks like he needs some protection himself.
Hello Pippi Longstocking Is That You
Is this dog standing over a fan? Is it windy? Is she half dog and half airplane? No, no, and no. This rescue dog has the rarest of ears. You would think that she is simply raising her ears due to excitement, but in fact, that is not the case. This is what she looks like even when she is relaxed, this is just her face! All the time. What a cutie pie.
Pippi Longstocking and this puppy really are twins. With their ears and hair sticking up in the exact same directions, her owners sure missed an opportunity to name her Pippi.
No You Are Not Seeing Double
A local pet rescue and shelter had someone drop off a male kitten that was born with two faces. When this happens they are referred to as Janus cats. This name was inspired by Janus, the Roman God of past and future, who is depicted as having two faces. This was such an unusual occurrence that not many people knew how to react to it. Their team provided care around-the-clock, attempting to do all they could. Unfortunately, the survival rates are very low.
This little kitty...or kittens does look like something straight out of American Horror Story. But so precious at the same time.
This Kitten Has Mittens
Have you ever seen a cat with opposable thumbs? Well, this new housemate has more thumbs than their owner was expecting! This cat may look like he's twiddling his thumbs, ready to have a difficult conversation with you. But this is just his natural state. Also, if you think about it...cats are so intelligent and already seem like they can do everything easily. But now a cat with thumbs? Once they learn how to use those bad boys the next step is clearly world domination.
"You may be wondering why I brought you here today..." The thumbs clasped together with this stern little face make for a hilarious photo. This cat gets two thumbs up for cuteness no doubt!
An Ink Stain or a Birthmark
Meet this wholesome Golden Retriever with a black patch on his face. It is obviously just a tiny freckle, or possibly someone actually spilled a canister of ink on his face right before they snapped the picture! Typically Golden Retrievers do not come in any different color than shades of golden and brown. So this dog is super rare with his genetic mutation that causes this birthmark on his face!
Poor baby, it looks like someone threw mud at him or like he got into his human's paint. But luckily for him, that's not the case. He is just blessed with a cute face and even cuter ink blot.
Doberman Becomes Golderman
This is Spade, the amazing Albino Doberman. This not-so-little puppy has golden cream hair and super light blue eyes. Have you ever seen a Doberman who wasn't all chocolate brown? What a beautiful look, he could be a successful pet model. Watch out world, there is a new Doberman in town! He will steal all your dog girlfriends...and probably human girlfriends as well. Welp, what can you do? Just bask in the beauty.
Although Albino dogs with truly no pigment at all are extremely rare. Spade has some pigment which is a bit more common, but it still makes him one-of-a-kind. Albino or not, he is a handsome pup.
We Are Pleased to Introduce You to the First Bodybuilder Cat
Now you would see this cat and think it may look like something straight out of a comic or maybe even a superhero movie right? He has huge muscles like he is ready to go fight crime. However in fact this house cat is actually suffering from myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy, a rare condition that causes muscles to grow excessively large. As long as his pet parent is taking care of him just as normal and giving him all the tenderness, love, and care he deserves then he should be just fine!
Just in case you were wondering what this cat does on a day-to-day basis, here it is. He actually teaches a local bodybuilding class and then opens pickle jars for the remainder of the day, for a living. He must be eating good kibble.
The Only Pup in a Liter of Sixteen Born With a Limb Difference
Frankie was born in a huge liter of sixteen puppies and his owners quickly realized he was a little different from his brothers and sisters. He was born missing his two forelimbs. But don't feel bad because that surely doesn't stop him. He is just as happy, healthy, and loved as he could ever be! He was actually adopted into a family of two other dogs with the same exact genetic condition! So now he gets to play with his best buds all day and fits right in.
These dogs must be great at running! Walking around all day just like humans. What a sight to see. But in case you were wondering, they do have wheelchair attachments that help them run and make getting around just a bit easier.
Cat by Day, Vampire by Night
This cat has supernumerary teeth, which are defined as extra teeth around the mouth. It's not very common. And this kitty has an extra one right in the middle of his mouth that just slightly pokes out. As well as his multiple fangs, he really resembles a vampire. He must be hiding his true identity. A vampire in cat disguise. This special kitty has gotten nicknames such as vampire cat, fang, batcat, and snaggletooth.
With teeth like this, no forensics team would know what bit you! But don't let that scare you, there is really no need to worry. This cat is still very much cuddle-friendly and indeed not a vampire.
Try Playing Hide and Seek in the Snow With This One
Avgust is an albino dog from Moscow, Russia. His owners like to call him an extraterrestrial dog because one day he just appeared by their door. He was sick, dirty, and hungry and they didn't know if he could survive. But they took him in and he has become their loving pet. He is an exotic and beautiful creature. He would be great at playing hide and seek in the snow because you would literally never find him!
So is this an Albino doggo? Yes, it is! Is he actually an extraterrestrial dog? Nope! But is he adorable regardless? Oh yeah, for sure.
Half Dalmatian, Half Snake
This is hands-down one of the most unique snakes ever seen. Its markings look just like a dalmatian and that's no coincidence. Its actual name is indeed Dalmatian Pied Ball Python. It is an incredibly rare and magnificent creature. You would think dalmatians are usually furry and bark but not this one. It may be a glitch in the system if you will because this dalmatian is actually long and slithers.
We've seen a good amount of cats and dogs with Vitiligo but this snake looks like it can also join that club. What a sssuper ssspecial ssnake.
The Cutest Cat in the Entire World
Now that's a weird-lookin' hamster. It's actually the first of its kind. The only hamster in the world that highly resembles a cat. Truly rare. Well, maybe not. But in all seriousness, what a little munchkin of a cat. It has Mickey Mouse ears and a birthmark in the exact shape of a heart on its side. Anyone would be lucky to call this kitty their pet. The sweetest looking animal ever.
Mickey Mouse cat, panda cat, whatever you choose to call it; it's the most wholesome cat. So precious with its grey and white fur. Hearts for the heart kitty!
Toes and Toes for Days
This funky feline is named Eggleston. He happens to have an EgglesTON of toe beans. All these toes call for a whole bean harvest actually. Her owner must have wondered how she could climb a vertical window and upon discovery of all the extra toes, it makes sense! With that much grip, this cat might as well be a ninja. At least it is assumed that all those extra toes make him more agile. It would be quite funny if he actually is a clumsy cat.
Just another case of Polydactyly! Cats with six toes are thought to be very lucky so this kitty is definitely special.
One-Eared Pickle
Meet pickle, a very lovable cat. We're sure you can guess why she is so unique. For her color of course! Okay well, it may actually be due to the fact that she was born without an ear. Or rather with an ear. Although she has this genetic difference, she is just as adorable. Since there are a few four-eared cats, maybe one would be happy to donate a spare to her.
Anyway regardless of her ear difference, this cat can probably still hear a tuna can opening from two towns over just fine.
High-Five or Wait... High-Twenty
If you had paws as cute as this, you would show them off too. Meet another polydactyl cool cat. Check out the extra mini paws on the side of this kitten's big paws! Truly peculiar. If there were an opportunity to suggest a name for this kitty, it would be Polly. Just to pay homage to all of her extra toes. You can be sure she always puts her best paws forward.
Who has four thumbs and the cutest boop-able nose? This guy! What a paw-rfect pooper.
